DESCRIPTION

In this article, the editor of The Beginners Online Workshop introduces you to the best technique to get your website indexed by search engines. It's worked for us at the workshop, let it also work for you.

As mentioned many times over in recent articles at the workshop, it's becoming harder to get your website indexed correctly within the various top search engines and directories. The struggle these days is actually getting listed at all.

You could spend hours or lots of money searching for the best place to submit your website to the search engines. You could even buy the latest submission tool to submit your site to 5000+ search engines and directories. The question is simple... does it actually work and is it worth my while.

My answer is simple, don't bother and do it the good old fashioned way! By manually adding your website to the search engines or directories is the best method and I can assure you it really does work. In a second, I will give you some useful direct links to some of the more popular search engines and directories out there. This will speed up in your quest to get listed.

The link below will send you to the correct place to get your website submitted. The reason why I have done this is because I have had a couple of emails recently by people who can't actually find the right place to look on the various search engine sites. So I spent a little time hunting down the correct locations for you to get the job done.

So here are the URL's:

Excite.com
http://www.excite.com/info/add_url_form

Go.com
http://beta.go.com/AddUrl?pg=SubmitUrl.html&svx=HP_addurl

Lycos.com
http://home.lycos.com/addasite.html

Google.com
http://www.google.com/addurl.html

Galaxy
http://www.galaxy.com/info/submit : Last Updated : 10th October 2001

Scrub The Web
http://www.scrubtheweb.com/addurl.html

Some of these url's might change overtime. If they do, please let me know at webmaster@beginners.co.uk. I did this around a month ago and things have really improved for me especially Google.com which is now used by Yahoo. Best of luck.
